Five INTELLECT-S Attorneys Are Best Lawyers™

The 2017 edition of the Best Lawyers in Russia listed five INTELLECT-S partners among the country’s top professionals.

Best Lawyers in Russia 2017: INTELLECT-S attorneys are listed in Litigation, Intellectual Property Law, Criminal Defense, Labor and Employment Law.

Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer review publication in the legal profession, started out as a US-only professional guide in 1977 and went international in 2006. Today it covers more than 70 countries, including Russia.

This years' ninth edition of the Best Lawyers in Russia ranks INTELLECT-S members for the third time, but it is the first time that the prestigious guide selects as many as our firm's five members.

Maxim Labzin who leads the IP litigation practice, is among the top lawyers in Intellectual Property Law for the third year in a row: he was listed as one of the best lawyers in 2015 and 2016.

Maxim Labzin: «Once we have made it to such ranks, we can tell clients (not only in Russia) with all certainty and good reason, 'you are welcome; we will he glad to give you any competent legal assistance'».

Dmitry Zagainov, head of the firm's criminal practice, ranks among the best criminal defense and litigation advocates.

Dmitry Zagainov: «I am very cautious about ranking and ranks. But I must admit I am glad to have made it to the top for the first time, in two practice areas too. It's nice to be aware that my professional abilities in two areas have been recognized by leading lawyers. I am grateful to INTELLECT-S's team whose energy drives me toward new achievements, and I acknowledge, with special gratitude, the contribution of those of them who so competently enter our profiles for ranking».

The top list of the best civil litigators includes Roman Rechkin, the head of INTELLECT-S litigation, and Alexander Latyev, who leads the firm's realty practice.

Roman Rechkin: «The Best Lawyers' ranking is, unlike others, personal. Firms are assessed by the key criterion, that is, the competency of their attorneys. Everybody understands that no matter how impressive the firm's façade may look (i.e. its website, its promotion materials, the office etc.), the key is the competence and experience of the professional handling the engagement. From this perspective, this ranking is quite telling. Dmitry Zagainov, Maxim Labzin, Alexander Latyev and Anna Ustyushenko are indeed among the best lawyers of the country. It's nice to work in one team with them, the more so that their competence merits this high appreciation».

Alexander Latyev: «Making it to The Best Lawyers is a new step to meet halfway our clients, including international clients. They will now know sooner that they can be represented by INTELLECT-S's team whose members on the list are just the tip of the iceberg».

Anna Ustyushenko, head of the firm's employment law practice, is at the top of the list of the best lawyers in Labor and Employment Law.

Anna Ustyushenko: «It's incredibly nice to be in the company of Russia's best lawyers. And it is twice more so to be aware that the best lawyers of Russia are ranked by peers. Being on the list is therefore the appreciation of our professional competence. I am glad for the success of my co-workers and grateful to the peers for their high marks and opinions. They are very valuable to us».

The Best Lawyers' methodology, based on peer feed-back, is simple and transparent (which something that the firm takes pride in); it is designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical regions and legal practice areas. Nominations are open to anyone. The primary sources for nominations are clients, other lawyers, and marketing teams. Ballots are then generated and distributed to listed lawyers. Only higher scorers are short-listed. The Best Lawyers accepts no payments for its ranking.
