The Civil Code contains a closed list of complex objects consisting of several protected intellectual property results. The law explicitly names such objects as: films and other audiovisual works, theatrical performances, multimedia products, and databases (Article 1240 of the Civil Code).

However, many questions arise among legal professionals:

  • Is a website a complex object?Can a television program be classified as an audiovisual work?
  • Is it permissible to consider a social media account as a complex object?
  • What constitutes a multimedia product?
  • How appropriate is it to maintain a closed list of complex objects given today's technological advancements?
